EPL DFS: Mid-Tier Attackers

Jordan Ayew (Norwich @ Crystal Palace, $15) – Listing a Palace attacker this high on a breakdown of a normal slate is wild, but it mostly comes down to the match-up.  Norwich have given up the second most goals (2.3 per game) in the league so far.

They’ve given up 2+ goals in every game except for one against Newcastle (but they did still score 1).  A trio of Palace attackers including Ayew, Wilfred Zaha ($15), and Christian Benteke ($11) all have the same odds to score at +162.

While I think you can play any one of them if you want, I lean Ayew as clearly the most productive of the group this season.  He has 2 goals and he’s averaging 1 shot on goal per game.

This is a tough price to pay for Palace guys, but at extremely low ownership and in a great match-up they can easily exploit, Ayew and Benteke spark my interest.  I also think you can add Luka Milivojevic ($15) to the mix as another low owned piece to this match-up for Palace.

Erik Lamela (Southampton @ Tottenham, $15) – Lamela is my favorite Tottenham guy to pair with Son/Kane.  I think Tottenham can really pop off in this match-up, and Lamela should be heavily involved in their attack.

Lamela has a good floor in the mid-teens with his chances created and shots on goal among other peripherals.  I think that floor rises some in this match-up into the 20s with peripherals which could help him go 40+ if he can find the net.  He’s the third most likely Tottenham goal scorer.  I like the idea of pairing him and Son/Kane in a mini stack in this plus match-up.

Joao Moutinho (Watford @ Wolverhampton, $14) – I am definitely interested in getting a Wolverhampton mini stack in a line on Saturday purely based on this match-up.  Moutinho has been significantly better fantasy-wise on home turf this year where he’s averaging 17.8 fantasy points.

The number of chances he creates is much better at home (3.0) than on the road (1.0), and this is a great match-up for him to boost that home average.  He isn’t really a guy to focus on for goals (only +650 to score in a great match-up), but if you want that kind of guy Diogo Jota ($11) is cheap and has nice odds to score at +145.

Felipe Anderson (West Ham @ Bournemouth, $13) – I expect this game to be full of action.  Felipe Anderson can fill the whole stat box, which is why I’m after him on Saturday.  While he has not scored yet this season, he’s West Ham’s second most likely goal scorer at +220.

That would be a great bonus if I play him on Saturday because I’m more focused on how many peripherals he can get me in this match-up.  He has 2 assists this season, and he’s averaging 1.8 chances created, 2.4 tackles, and 1.0 interception per game.

Bournemouth does not have a strong defense, so Anderson is in a nice spot to add in attacking peripherals.  Plus, he should be able to add in more defensive peripherals than he normally would if/when this game opens up.  If you want more of a goal scorer with low ownership, Andriy Yarmolenko ($12) is in this price range as well with +240 odds to score.
