NFL DFS bargain bin: Week 4 Quarterbacks

Daniel Jones, NYG vs. WAS (DraftKings-$5,300/FanDuel-$7,300/FantasyDraft-$10,900/Yahoo-$29)

Yes, Jones will carry a hefty share of ownership in tournaments this week, but at his price and with his upside/matchup, he’s still worth rostering and differentiating your lineup elsewhere. Jones had a storybook NFL debut against the Buccaneers in Week 3, and his matchup against a Redskins team that’s struggled to defend the pass all season puts him squarely in play.

Where to start with regards to Washington’s deficiencies versus the pass? The Skins are allowing the highest catch rate (79.0 percent) in the NFL, along with the second-most touchdown passes (nine). Washington has also surrendered the fifth-most DraftKings/FantasyDraft (25.7) and FanDuel/Yahoo (24.7) fantasy points per game to quarterbacks.

To top it off, the Redskins are also yielding a bottom-10 figure in rushing yards to quarterbacks (76) at 7.6 yards per carry, particularly worrisome when facing as mobile a player as Jones. With a game environment that should be conducive to a wire-to-wire battle, Jones could pay off his bargain prices handsomely.

Marcus Mariota, TEN at ATL (DraftKings-$5,100/FanDuel-$6,900/FantasyDraft-$10,200/Yahoo-$24)

We go from sure-to-be heavily owned to one of the proverbial black sheep of the Week 4 quarterback class in Mariota. The embattled 2015 first-round pick has caught plenty of heat for his team’s 1-2 start, but he’s actually offered better fantasy production than many might realize. Mariota has games with 18.6 and 24.3 DK/FantasyDraft points/15.6 and 24.3 FanDuel and Yahoo points over the first three weeks, and he’ll come into this dome game with extra time to prepare since Tennessee played on Thursday night in Week 3.

As customary, Mariota has shown off some nice rushing upside this season as well, posting between 24 and 34 yards on the ground in each of his first three games. The matchup sets up nicely for him, considering the Falcons have allowed an elevated 67.4 percent completion rate to quarterbacks. What’s more, they’ve yielded 19.5 DK/FantasyDraft and 18.5 FanDuel/Yahoo points per game to the position, numbers that would be appreciably higher had Kirk Cousins put the ball up against them more than 10 times in Week 1.

Tennessee should be forced to keep its foot on the gas in this contest with the likes of Matt Ryan, Devonta Freeman, Julio Jones and Calvin Ridley on the other side, setting Mariota up for a potentially fruitful performance as he fights to keep a firm grip on his starting job.
