NFL DFS bargain bin: Week 4 Wide Receivers
Calvin Ridley, ATL vs. TEN (DraftKings-$5,000/FanDuel-$5,800/FantasyDraft-$9,300/Yahoo-$20)
Ridley struggled with a hip injury earlier in the week, but he’s off the final injury report as of Friday afternoon. He’s a classic high-upside piece that’s coming off an extremely atypical low-usage week, making him an excellent fit for large-field tournament play in particular Week 4. Ridley somehow saw all of one target on 46 snaps in Week 3 versus the Colts. This, after the second-year speedster logged 16 looks over the first two games of the campaign.
The Titans don’t have bad numbers against wide receivers through three games, but they’ve faced a Browns offense that we now see isn’t hitting on all cylinders, a mostly conservative quarterback in Jacoby Brissett in Week 2 and a talented but still somewhat restricted rookie signal-caller in Gardner Minshew in Week 3. In other words Matt Ryan is the most accomplished arm Tennessee has faced in the early going.
Additionally, the Titans have already surrendered six passing touchdowns in their first three contests, and Ridley has the home-run speed to strike from anywhere on the field. With prices that he could easily pay off with one long touchdown reception and a date on the fast track of his home turf, he’s squarely in play.
D.K. Metcalf, SEA at ARI (DraftKings-$4,800/FanDuel-$6,100/FantasyDraft-$9,400/Yahoo-$15)
There will be no shortage of DFS attention this week on the Seahawks-Cardinals tilt, and rightfully so. Two questionable secondaries playing at an extremely accelerated pace makes for a highly fertile environment for fantasy production. Metcalf could well be one of the primary beneficiaries, and at very reasonable prices to boot. The rookie has already shown some good chemistry with Russell Wilson with four grabs of over 20 yards and a stellar 24.1 yards per catch overall.
His downfield profile dovetails perfectly for fantasy purposes with a Cardinals defense that’s allowed the third-most air yards (1,129) and second-highest average depth of target (10.5 yards). Additionally, Arizona has already surrendered four touchdown receptions to wide receivers and an average of 35.5 DK/FantasyDraft and 29.0 FanDuel/Yahoo points per game to the position.
Metcalf has logged at least six targets in each contest and has an aDOT of 17.9 yards, a hefty figure that exemplifies how perfect a fit his big-play abilities could be versus the Cardinals in a game where Seattle should see plenty of extra offensive plays.
