6. Sam Ehlinger, QB, Texas

The Texas Longhorns were idle in Week 5 of the 2019 season, getting a week off after winning against Oklahoma State to move to 3-1 on the year and prepare to take on West Virginia. Through the Longhorns’ first four games of the campaign, though, quarterback Sam Ehlinger has been as good as you could’ve hoped he’d be.

Ehlinger has been tearing it up for Tom Herman’s team this season, even in the loss to LSU. For the year, the signal-caller has thrown for 1,237 yards, 15 touchdowns and just one interception while completing a career-high 72.9 percent of his passes. On top of that, he’s added 191 rushing yards and a rushing score as well. He’s been an absolute beast and the motor that keeps Hook ‘Em rolling.

5. Jonathan Taylor, RB, Wisconsin

Jonathan Taylor had arguably his worst game out of the first four with the Wisconsin Badgers for the year. In a grinding, ugly win over Northwestern in Week 5, Taylor carried the rock for a season-high 26 times and managed 119 yards and a touchdown, also adding three catches for 15 yards to his total on the day.

However disappointing that day was for Taylor, though, he’s still been near unstoppable throughout the year. Week 5 was his first outing without multiple touchdowns and, even with that, he still has 11 total touchdowns (eight rushing, three receiving) on the season to go with 559 yards rushing and a 6.7 yards per carry average. The Badgers runner has been incredible and consistently so, which should continue throughout the rest of the year.
