Daily fantasy golf: FanDuel PGA – Low-tier picks ($9,000-$10,000)

Charles Howell III – $9,900 – (GPP)

Moving in the $9K range this week, we have a bunch more appealing names, and it was once again pretty hard to get down to a fair number to recommend. Let’s face it. This is a short track where the hottest putter will likely win, so more than ever this week in PGA DFS is almost a complete crapshoot. We can only take the information we have in front of us and make the best lineup, but at these easier venues, we can usually expect low scores and a couple of big names at the top of the leaderboard. That seems to be the most obvious constant.

I really flirted with this $9,900 mark for cash games in my initial overly balanced approach. Matthew Wolff will make his season debut, and while more suited as a GPP play for the possible rust factor, we already know how good this kid is, and I think he is very much in play for cash games. On top of that, we have one of my favorites in Charles Howell III at the same price, who is coming off of a T-4 in his season debut at the Safeway Open last week.

I think both are cash viable, and as you can tell I seem to think that about more golfers than usual this week. If you want to go full balance and fade everyone over $11K I think you can start with Scheffler, CH III, and Wolff, and then look to our next target as he is here once again, even after his debacle on Saturday in Napa.

Scott Piercy – $9,600 – (Cash)

After watching Piercy completely meltdown on Saturday you have to wonder how I can put him here again, especially with this salary bump. After just squeaking just inside the cut-line at 2-under par and around 50% owned in cash games, Piercy shot an 80 on Saturday, and eventually finished DFL as the kids like to say, alone in 67th place at the Safeway Open last week.

He had one bad round really, and I am not going to let that get in the way of playing a guy who has missed just one cut in his last 14 events. Piercy started the season with a T-19 at the Greenbrier, and his history here at TPC Summerlin is putting me right back on him.

The 40-year-old is a staple here at the Shriners Open, playing in each of the last ten years, and has had very solid results along the way. He has missed just one cut and has posted four top-10’s, including a T-10 last year. Also for the narrative folks, this is a home game in a sense, as Piercy was born and currently resides in the Las Vegas area.
