Fantasy football waiver wire: Week 5 adds

Jameis Winston

Winston had a great game and possibly the best game of his career in week 4. He went 28-for-41 with 385 yards, four touchdowns and an interception against the Rams. It was a great game in general but Winston was smart with the ball and made big plays.

While Mike Evans was banged up a bit, Chris Godwin stepped up. He caught 12 of 14 targets for 172 yards and two touchdowns. The running game was good but I’ll talk about that later.

Winston and the Bucs face the Saints this week. He doesn’t have the best track record against New Orleans but this looks like a different Winston.

Jacoby Brissett

Brissett has been solid since taking over the starting job. He has at least two touchdowns in every game with just two total interceptions. The yardage may not be there but with Marlon Mack in the backfield, he doesn’t need to do everything.

Even with T.Y. Hilton out, he was able to put up 265 yards. Though, having Jack Doyle, Eric Ebron and Zach Pascal does help his production.

Brissett and the Colts take on the Chiefs. In what will likely be a shootout, Brissett will be forced to throw the ball a lot in catchup mode.

Gardner Minshew

Is “Minshew Mania” real? So far, it is. It may not result in a lot of fantasy points but seven touchdowns, one interception and 905 yards is not too bad. Doing it without a superstar is even more impressive.

Sure, Leonard Fournette is playing but who knows how long that will last. DJ Chark and Dede Westbrook are first and second in receptions and Chark leads in yards and touchdowns. Tight end James O’Shaughnessy is even making some plays.

Minshew Mania makes his next stop in Carolina. The defense has allowed more fantasy points each week.
