Fantasy football waiver wire: Week 5 adds
Ronald Jones
Back to Tampa Bay, Jones had his best fantasy game with 70 rushing yards, a touchdown and 12 receiving yards. He had the starting job in week 3 with Peyton Barber out and took the majority of carries in week 4.
I don’t think Jones will go back to the bad side of the platoon going forward. He is a more effective rusher and three years younger. If the Bucs want to have a balanced run and pass game, Jones should be the lead guy.
With few valuable running backs on the waiver wire, Jones is worth a look, even as a flex play.
A.J. Brown
Brown had a 100-yard game in week 1 then went quiet for a couple of weeks. That is, until week 4. Brown torched the Falcons defense for 94 yards and two touchdowns on all three of his targets.
Marcus Mariota targeted the other Titans pass catchers more, Corey Davis six times and Dion Lewis five times, but Brown had the bigger plays.
If you’re looking for a safer pick, I’d go with Davis but if you want the big-play ability, Brown is your guy. The Titans face Buffalo in week 5. They held Tom Brady to 150 passing yards and an interception. I wouldn’t rely on Mariota but Brown should be able to get passed the secondary.
Ricky Seals-Jones
With David Njoku out until week 12 and Jarvis Landry won’t suit up for week 5, Seals-Jones becomes the No. 2 or 3 target for the Browns.
RSJ, a quiet favorite of mine for years, caught all three of his targets for 82 yards and a touchdown against Baltimore. The Browns overall performance against the Ravens was impressive.
Seals-Jones and the Browns face the 49ers in week 5. They have allowed a total of 27.7 fantasy points against tight ends in the first three weeks. I think RSJ can score 15 in this game.
