6. UCF (-4.5) at Cincinnati

Practically no one saw the UCF Knights, who had not lost a regular-season matchup since 2016, dropping a game against Pittsburgh two weeks ago. The high-powered offense and respectable defense laid a dud against a Panthers team that, for all intents and purposes, they were better than. However, they bounced back with a big win over UConn and now head on the road to face Cincinnati in Week 6.

The Bearcats have not been slouches this season to begin the year, posting a 3-1 record with their only loss coming against Ohio State, a team that might be the best in the country right now. However, they’ve proven to be a strong offense and a defense that can hold their own against level competition — namely teams that aren’t the Buckeyes.

When you look at the defenses of UCF and Cincinnati, they are basically on par with one another. The Knights are allowing 19.4 points per game while the Bearcats are conceding 20.8 points per contest. However, Dillon Gabriel and UCF have a much more potent offensive attack, averaging 21.2 more points per game than Cincy this season. That will ultimately prove to be the difference in this matchup on Friday night.

As impressive as Cincinnati can be, they don’t have the firepower or the defense to hang with an elite offense. Though the loss to Pitt may have taken the shine off of UCF a bit, make no mistake, they are an elite offense. So even if they are on the road in this matchup, they’ll go into Ohio and take care of business, comfortably covering the miniscule 4.5-point spread.
