Fantasy football lineup advice – Tight End

BOOM:

Jimmy Graham, GB @ DAL

After failing to draw even a single target in the Packers’ two prior contests, Graham roared back to life against the Eagles. The 10th-year tight end recorded six catches for 61 yards and a touchdown, looking like a favorite target of Aaron Rodgers throughout. With Davante Adams ailing, the team may have no choice but to look Graham’s way more often.

While Dallas has managed to suppress opposing running-backs, the same can’t be said about tight-ends. Through four games, the Cowboys have given up the fourth-most receptions (26) and eighth-most fantasy points (14.1) per game to TEs. Coming off his best game of the season, Graham should get an abundance of looks, especially if Adams is forced to sit this one out.

BUST:

Vernon Davis, WSH vs. NE

Redskins’ starting tight-end Jordan Reed is still out with concussion problems and it’s beginning to look like his future in football may be in jeopardy. Filling in for him has been the 35-year-old Davis, who’s seen at least four targets in each game this year. Even at his old age, Davis has a history of producing solid numbers in Reed’s absence. However, the revolving door at quarterback for Washington this year has clouded his outlook.

By now, everyone should be aware of the defensive juggernaut that the Patriots have become. New England ranks no. 1 in the league this season against tight-ends, allowing a minuscule 3.7 FPPG. Davis does rank first among all TEs with 95.8 percent routes run when on the field, but expecting him to overcome this defense would be downright foolish.

Sleeper:

Gerald Everett, LAR @ SEA

The Rams currently roll-out two capable tight-ends in Everett and Tyler Higbee, but it’s Everett that’s taken over most of the pass-catching work. Last week, he saw a season-high eight targets in which he took for 44 yards and a touchdown. In Week 5, he’ll go against the Seahawks, who rank in the bottom half of the league against TEs. Jared Goff has been throwing the ball a ton, something Everett can benefit from.
