Daily Fantasy Football: Running Back Pivots

Okay, I’m going right back to two of my favorite pivots from last week who both performed well and are in good spots again this week. Leonard Fournette finally had the breakout game that many of us were waiting for as he ran for over 200 yards. He is still very affordable at only 6.4k this week against a Carolina team that ranks 22nd overall against the run.

Fournette carried the ball 29 times last week and got three targets in the passing game. As long as he’s going to have this massive market share of the Jacksonville offense, you simply have to consider him at his price. I said it last week, volume means so much in fantasy football and there isn’t really another back other than McCaffrey who is getting the volume that Fournette is right now.

David Johnson could end up being a popular play this week, but I am still seeing his ownership below the big three and a price increase could keep people away. I want a lot of Johnson in my lineups this week as he gets a Bengals defense that was mauled by the Steelers backs (both Conner and Samuels) in the running game and with catches out of the backfield.

With Christian Kirk out this week, we could see Johnson operate as a slot receiver on some downs in addition to his usual alignment in the backfield next to Kyler Murray. He’s an elite receiving back with 21 catches this year already, 9 of which came last week against the Seahawks. His game is perfectly suited to Drafkings scoring and I think he’s going to crack 20 DK points this week with room for a lot more.
