Early DraftKings college football wide receiver picks October 5

Top Tier:

CeeDee Lamb has scored seven touchdowns in four games for Oklahoma this year. He is the top target for Hurts. That’s not going to change here. Lamb should have another strong game before the starters rest in Lawrence.

Texas moving Devin Duvernay to the slot has paid huge dividends. Duvernay has 39 receptions and four touchdowns in four games. There is a lot of talent on the Texas offense, but Duvernay has been one of the more consistent forces.

You all saw what Lamb did to Texas Tech last week, right? Tylan Wallace is going to do even more. Oklahoma State only had 153 passing yards last week. Wallace had 145 yards receiving. Wallace will put up huge numbers regardless of whether the Cowboys pass a lot or not.

Ja’Marr Chase had a massive game against Vanderbilt with Marshall out and Jordan Jefferson leaving early. The signs point to Jefferson playing, but if he is limited at all, Chase could end up blowing away his production again. If Jefferson is completely healthy, I like Chase a little less. Still, Chase picked up 147 yards against Texas in a game in which Jefferson had a strong game as well. Marshall looks to be out again, so both LSU receivers could have strong games. Utah State allows 263.5 passing yards per game.

Middle Tier:

Charleston Rambo only has 13 receptions on the year, but he has topped triple digits in three of the four games. With or without volume, Rambo is a huge threat in this offense. Even in the game in which Rambo didn’t top 100 yards, he still scored a touchdown.

Quarterback improvement has created a bit of a renaissance for Minnesota receivers, namely Tyler Johnson. Johnson has hauled in 18 of 20 targets for 213 yards and four touchdowns over the last two games. There’s a good chance that Minnesota runs a lot on Illinois, but I would be that Johnson still had a strong game. Of course, Rashod Bateman racked up 177 yards just last week on the other side.

If you think KJ Hamler had a big game against Maryland, that may be child’s play considering how bad Purdue’s defense has been, especially on the back end. Hamler looks like massive value on this slate.

No matter who starts under center for Louisville, Chatarius Atwell is a strong play. Atwell has caught ten balls in the last two weeks. Four of those went for touchdowns. At that point the yardage really doesn’t even matter that much.

K.D. Nixon could have a monster game for Colorado this week. Laviska Shenault left the Arizona State game early and is a game time decision for this one. If Shenault it out, I’m all in on Dixon.

Bargain Shoppers:

Quarterbacks who also run the ball have a little more value than ones who just throw, right? It stands to reason that the same would hold true for receivers. Zay Flowers has 14 carries in five games, so he’s almost like a backup running back. This passing attack has struggled for the most part, so Boston College wants to get him involved any way they can.

Freshman Sam Jones has been a PPR monster for West Virginia so far. He has at least five receptions in every game. Jones has only scored once on the season, but in a game where West Virginia promises to be down early and down big, Jones could have a very nice game while the Mountaineers play catch up.

Purdue turned to David Bell quite a bit after Rondale Moore went down. That should be the case again this week. The Boilers are going to be down against Penn State, and Bell will be the guy they target most to try and get them back in it. I like Brycen Hopkins as well, but to a lesser degree.
