NFL DFS: Denver Broncos @ Los Angeles Chargers

PREVIEW

After ending his holdout last week, we could finally see Melvin Gordon take the field against a Broncos defense that allowed over 220 rushing yards to Leonard Fournette last week. It’ll be interesting to see how the Chargers divvy up the backfield work, especially with Mike Williams and Travis Benjamin ailing, indicating that they could use all of the production they can get.

The Broncos offense looked mediocre as always last week, but we saw the breakout of young receiver Courtland Sutton after he secured a pair of touchdowns. They’re the 6-point underdog against the Chargers, who rank 30th in pass DVOA, meaning that Flacco could have a bit of success when airing it out in garage time.

CASH PLAYS

  • Keenan Allen (WR-LAC): Dontrell Inman was placed on the IR this week, leaving Allen as the only remaining starting WR that is still healthy. He had a down game last week and the matchup isn’t ideal, but he avoids De’Vante Bausby and Chris Harris Jr. as he operates out of the slot. Combine that with the fact that his target share is still sitting at 32.03% after only recording 7 targets last week and that makes me feel like his $7,500 tag on FanDuel is way too cheap.
  • Austin Ekeler (RB-LAC): His price has dropped significantly with Gordon back, but it’s still up in the air how much work Gordon will get. He’s posted 220 rushing yards and 270 receiving yards through the first 4 weeks, which makes me think he’ll still have a massive passing-down role at the least. The Broncos just gave up 220+ rushing yards to Leonard Fournette last week, giving Ekeler/Gordon a TON of upside here.

GPP PLAYS

  • Melvin Gordon (RB-LAC): Clarity regarding snap-count/workload should come throughout the week, but in a matchup against a defense that’s allowed the 4th most fantasy points per game to RBs, it’s hard to not love the price tag on Gordon, especially on FanDuel. This is a dart throw, but one that could pay dividends.
