NFL DFS game by game breakdown: Week 5
By Joe Metz
NFL DFS: Arizona Cardinals @ Cincinnati Bengals
PREVIEW
Two brutal defenses is a fantastic starting point when looking to stack up fantasy production, but when you add in the fastest-paced team in the league (ARI) and heightened opportunity for players to step up via injury, it only gets better.
John Ross is set to miss at least a month, leaving 20.96% of the target share up for grabs throughout the Bengals passing core. The over/under of 47.5 for this game should speak volumes as to how much offensive production there should be, considering the fact that the Bengals are averaging under 13 points per game over their last 3 outings.
CASH PLAYS
- David Johnson (RB – ARI): He’s logged 86% or more of the offensive snaps in 3 out of 4 games this season and saw a season-high 11 targets last week, after seeing 9 in week 3. He should remain a key cog against a defense that just allowed a 7-catch performance to James Conner on Monday night.
- Larry Fitzgerald (WR – ARI): Already holding 22.7% of the targets in ARI, Fitz could see a massive uptick in volume if Christian Kirk misses this game. He also leads the offense in red-zone targets (7).
- Tyler Boyd (WR – CIN): Much like Fitzgerald, Boyd is already seeing a massive target share (23.35%), but could see an uptick this week with John Ross sidelined, who saw 20.96% of the targets and has already recorded 3 TDs on the season.
- Auden Tate (WR – CIN): This echoes the Boyd blurb, but there’s 20.96% of the targets in Cincinnati to go around and Tate is already seeing 11.98%, with 16 over the last two weeks. He’s only $3,500 on DraftKings, making him a cash game staple.
- Tyler Eifert (TE – CIN): Tight ends against Arizona continue to wreak havoc, as the TE1 has recorded at least 100 receiving yards and/or at least one touchdown in every single game this year. He should also see an uptick in routes and usage with Ross out and the increased pace of play against the Cardinals.
GPP PLAYS
- Kyler Murray (QB – ARI): I can’t go here in cash yet, regardless of the matchup, but Murray has a ton of upside against a defense ranked 31st in pass DVOA. If he can avoid the turnovers and continue to rely on his possession receiving options in Larry Fitzgerald and David Johnson, he should be able to carve up this defense between the chains.
- Joe Mixon (RB – CIN): He’s seen a rise in snaps over each of the last four weeks and has seen at his touches rise from 14-17-19 over the last three weeks. Cincinnati finally seems convinced on getting him involved, meaning the buy-now window is closing.
