2. Indianapolis Colts

Speaking of the AFC South and a team who could use an upgrade at wide receiver, here are the Colts. Jacoby Brissett has stepped up nicely after Andrew Luck’s sudden retirement, with 10 touchdown passes entering Week 5 (tied for the league lead), and over the last game-plus (and perhaps beyond at this point) he has done it without the services of T.Y. Hilton (quad).

No offense to them, but Zach Pascal, Chester Rogers and Deon Cain are at best complementary wide receivers. Rookie Parris Campbell has potential to be a difference maker, but it’s still very early. Pairing Diggs with Hilton over the next few seasons, with Brissett or whoever may come after him under center if the Colts decide to move in another direction, is an intriguing possibility.

Money is no object for Indianapolis, with the most cap space in the league this year and right now the second-most cap space for 2020 (behind the tanking Dolphins). General manager Chris Ballard cited maintaining harmony in the locker room as a reason for not pursuing Le’Veon Bell in free agency or trading for Antonio Brown last offseason. But Diggs doesn’t appear to be that level of disruptive force, so it looks like an all-around nice fit with the Colts.
