Previewing the October 3, 2019 edition of NXT UK, featuring Tegan Nox taking on NXT UK Women’s Champion Kay Lee Ray.

Kay Lee Ray did it. She defeated Toni Storm, proved her fragile and weak, took the one thing in the world that mattered most to her former best friend. She became NXT UK Women’s Champion. It all played out exactly like Ray said it would.

And no one cares. Despite ascending to the top of her division, Ray is still getting outshined. First off, there’s been more concern over where Storm has gone to, rather than anything to do with the new champion. Two backstage segments have involved Radzi standing around clueless, unable to provide answers as to why Storm won’t show up to be interviewed by him. No one is asking Ray about anything, let alone how it feels to have conquered the supposed conquering hero of NXT UK’s women’s division.

But, Storm is gone, Ray can’t further her problems with someone who doesn’t exist. The ghost of Toni Storm however, isn’t the only thing casting a shadow into Ray’s would-be spotlight. There’s also Tegan Nox. After appearing ringside at TakeOver: Cardiff, suddenly Nox is all anyone can talk about. With good reason, to be fair.

From being a highly-touted participant in the second Mae Young Classic, to blowing out her knee — after coming back from blowing out her other knee before the first MYC— to surgery rehab, overcoming all the physical and mental roadblocks, Nox has quite the comeback narrative propelling her.

Enough of a narrative to take eyes away from the champ? Kay Lee Ray doesn’t think so, and told Nox as much following the latter’s return match. If you thought Kay Lee Ray got angry when Toni Storm neglected to list off her name, wait until you see her when she’s getting overshadowed.

Nox however, has spent too much time on the shelf to stand idly by while people taunt her. She challenges the champ to a match “anytime, anywhere” a challenge the champ later accepts. The anytime is tonight. The anywhere is NXT UK.
