Fantasy football picks: Week 5 FanDuel GPP breakdown
Calvin Ridley – When I saw the price on Ridley I knew that we had to have him in this GPP article. Sure enough, the projected ownership on him is very low. He started off the year with two great games, following those up with two terrible games. This is resulting in a 5.4k price tag, which to me is just insulting. Ridley has immense talent, and Houston has allowed the seventh-most fantasy points to opposing receivers this season. Ridley will still see a high snap count, and I expect the targets to come back up forwards ten very soon.
Julian Edelman – This will be the last Patriot in my article, and is another member of the “bounce back” piece as well. He is currently listed as questionable but should have no problem suiting up for this juicy match-up. With Josh Gordon as the only other viable receiver, Edelman should be seeing his fair share of targets going forward. With 32 targets on the year, but only one score, Brady’s favorite target now gets Washington, who gives up the second-most points to receivers. Julian also works quite a bit out of the slot, much like Sterling Shepard who was wide open over the middle of the field for the majority of the game last week. I really like him as a great mid-Tier pivot.
Michael Thomas – With Brees injured, people will overlook Thomas and that should keep his ownership low, even in a great match-up. The Tampa vs. Saints games has historically been a very high scoring affair. The Buccaneers give up the fifth-most fantasy points against wide receivers and play at one of the fastest paces. Thomas has still seen a good number of targets from Bridgewater, receiver nine last game, and almost eclipsing the century mark in yardage. The production has slightly declined, and Thomas has been priced down as a result. I will have plenty of interest in this game.
Emmanuel Sanders – The last member of this receiver section, Sanders is just far too cheap against the Chargers. After his injury last year, most people wrote off the once-promising pass catcher. Since that time, he has accrued almost 300 yards, and two scores on 34 targets. The Chargers will occasionally struggle against receivers, and Sanders has a high floor, and ceiling especially for his price.
