NFL DFS Week 5: Fantasy football cash game breakdown

David Johnson – FanDuel $6800 DraftKings $7500

Wow, do I love this play this week. I can’t believe he’s so cheap on FanDuel and yes we don’t get the full point per reception but he’s still a great play. He killed it last week getting a boatload of catches (that’s the technical term for 8 catches on 11 targets). He went for 99 yards on those receptions and while he didn’t do well on the ground or get in the end zone, he STILL had a great day on both sites. After watching the Steelers focus so much on the ground game and throwing passes to their running backs against the Bengals, it’s hard for me to not love DJ here. He’s shown even if the Bengals can miraculously keep him out of the end zone, he can still get you plenty of points and I don’t hate him with Kyler as a mini stack to get more expensive guys this week. I love him on both sites here but especially FanDuel at that price.

David Montgomery – FanDuel $5700 DraftKings $5200

I’m not sure if I love this play in cash because I can almost guarantee you I will have 3 of the above 4 running backs on FanDuel and at least two of them on DraftKings. However, you could use Montgomery to get MOST of the chalk and go a bit different in a few spots and maybe pay up a lot at wide receiver or tight end which would be interesting and possibly worthwhile. Montgomery did get over 20 carries last week and finally seemed to secure the majority of snaps in this backfield. They’re also playing the Raiders. The downsides – it’s a tiny sample of one week and it’s a terrible offense to get any parts of in cash games regardless.

Alvin Kamara – FanDuel $8200 DraftKings $8600

Kamara is another play I don’t think will be high owned in cash and that I don’t love more than the above plays. However, he’s going to be really low owned and in a POSSIBLE game script that could be very favorable for him. The Buccaneers shocked the world last week in a shootout with the Rams that was incredibly high scoring. I don’t know what the deal was with the Rams defense but I know the Saints defense looked great against Dallas this past week. If they get up by a lot OR keep it a low scoring affair like against the Cowboys, this could be a nice usage game for Kamara.
