Fantasy Football: Injury/Lineup Updates

Sam Darnold has been ruled out for the Jets game against Philadelphia. There was some buzz around the industry about using him as a sneaky GPP play and stacking him with either Robby Anderson or Jamison Crowder, but I can’t really get on board with any Jets now that they will have Falk at quarterback this week. The entire game is a bit of a stay-away for me other than some interest in the Eagles defense.

Colt McCoy has been announced as the starter for the Redskins this week, sending Dwayne Haskins back to the bench and it seems like Case Keenum is now relegated to third-team. The Patriots defense continues to look good as a pay-up option either in cash or GPP, as the Redskins offense isn’t likely to be much better with McCoy and who knows if “smokin” Jay Gruden will toss Haskins back in the game late if Washington is getting blown out. I don’t usually like paying up at defense, but the Pats have a high ceiling in this game.

Stefon Diggs returned to practice and appears to be on track to play Sunday against the Giants, though his coach won’t commit to anything at this point. Keep an eye on his status Sunday morning, but if he plays he tempers my enthusiasm about Adam Thielen a bit. Thielen is still a solid play either way, but I would have been all over his if Diggs was out.

Jalen Ramsey will sit out of the Jaguars game against the Panthers on Sunday with a “back injury.” His absence is good news for the Panthers passing game as this Jacksonville secondary has been very poor without him. I’d consider Curtis Samuel and D.J. Moore solid GPP options, especially since they have a quarterback who can actually get them the ball now in Kyle Allen.

Jamaal Williams and Davante Adams have both been ruled out for Green Bay. This is huge for fantasy purposes as we could see Aaron Jones dominate the touches in the backfield and pick up more targets in the passing game. Marquez Valdes-Scantling will now become Aaron Rodgers‘s primary target and makes for a compelling GPP play, too.
