Late DraftKings college football quarterback picks October 5

Top Tier:

One glance says that Jacob Eason probably has the best matchup. I’m not sure about that. Stanford’s defense has struggled, but UNLV’s is much worse. On top of that, Hank Bachmeier has actually outplayed Eason (statwise) so far this year. Spend the money on Bachmeier instead.

Middle Tier:

Davis Mills looked very good against Oregon State last weekend. With Costello likely out again, he’ll be tested against Washington. I don’t like the price here, but it’s hard to ignore how much better the Stanford offense looked with Mills taking snaps.

Washington’s strength is the pass defense though, and sacks count as negative rushing yards for quarterbacks. If Mills is sacked a handful of times, that could cost you a touchdown pass.

Patrick O’Brien has been decent enough, but he’ll likely be without his leading receiver in a game in which he should be forced to pass. That will equal mistakes. You can do better.

Bargain Shoppers:

Ryan Agnew is the only guy I would look to go cheap with. I don’t trust either UNLV quarterback against the Boise defense. Patrick O’Brien has been solid, but this San Diego State defense is not the place to use him. Utah State locked him down last week and this San Diego State defense is likely better.

My reservations about playing Agnew are that San Diego State would much rather run the ball. Agnew did toss 37 passes against Utah State though. If Colorado State can stay close, I see some upside.
