NFL FanDuel: Week 5 QB Targets – (Early Only)

Deshaun Watson – $8,000 – (Cash)

Usually, I am all about paying down at the QB position in cash games. However, this is the first week I will be paying up to the $8K mark. While I think both Kyler Murray and Andy Dalton are viable cash options as well, the need to pay down at QB is just not there this week. Watson may not be on everyone else’s radar in cash games this week as I think the majority will still pay down out of habit, but I think he has a serious shot at his best game of the season up to this point.

The Texans offensive line is struggling, but the fact that the Falcons have just five sacks thus far and have arguably their best pass rusher in Rashad Hageman on IR gives me some hope he will get some extra time to pass this week. Watson isn’t running a lot, but he is rushing it in the red zone and has scored three rushing touchdowns, which is also very appealing here.

The Falcons defense also lost safety Keanu Neal who is also on IR with an Achilles tear, and this is proving to be the biggest blow. In the two games without Neal, Atlanta gave up 310 yards passing yards and two TD’s to Jacoby Brissett and then allowed Marcus Mariota to throw three TD’s passes last week. I think Watson and his receivers have a huge game here.

Kirk Cousins – $6,800 – (GPP)

Are you serious Clark? We have to take a stand in many different spots if we want to win a GPP, and while most of the focus is on Dalvin Cook and stopping this Minnesota running game, the time is now for Kirk Cousins if this team is going anywhere. Both of his wide receivers made that vocal in different ways this week.

Thielen was obviously bothered in a post-game interview after the loss to the Bears last week, and he flat out said he was missed on a TD pass and we have to make those passes. Stefon Diggs went about things in a completely different and more selfish matter, by skipping practice on Wednesday and reportedly pretty much doing his own thing at practice on Thursday. Diggs addressed but would not confirm or deny rumors that he wants out of Minnesota, but one thing is certain, there are too many mouths to feed on this offense, and Cousins has not been able to use any of them through four weeks.

So why this week? Well, I love me a good disguised spot coupled with the angry “give me the ball” WR narrative. Cousins has been bad enough to not really be on anybody’s radar, and many may look at last week and the fact that the Giants’ defense was good and skip right past Cousins.

However, this defense was made to look good by how abysmal the Redskins offense was. Rookie cornerback DeAndre Baker has proved to be beatable up to this point, and opposite corner Janoris Jenkins has also been better, and this could finally be the game the Vikings air it out. I will take a shot here as an under 10% cheap play, and hope Kirk’s receivers made him see the light this week.
