NFL FanDuel: Week 5 DEF Targets – (Early Only)

New Orleans Saints – $4,000 – (Cash)

Nobody else has talked about this yet, and I have been sitting on it all week. The Saints defense is getting outstanding play from their front seven, and they were able to shut down Ezekiel Elliott last week to the tune of just 35 yards rushing last week while holding an above-average Cowboys offense to just 10 points and 257 yards total.

What I have not heard or seen yet though anywhere else is the fact that this defense is egregiously underpriced on FanDuel compared to other sites. In reality, we might just want to pay up for a dominant Patriots defense who will face a terrible Redskins team, but I think we can get double-digit FP out of the Saints for $1,500 cheaper. New Orleans is the second most expensive defense on Yahoo! this week, and they rank 5th on DraftKings in terms of salary.

This defensive unit struggled the first two weeks of the season, most notably in the secondary, but have put together back-to-back double-digit FP weeks posting 14 two weeks ago against the Seahawks, and 11 last week in the 12-10 win over the Cowboys. The Buccaneers will come into the Superdome off of dropping 55 points on the Rams, but I think the difference in stadium-atmosphere will make things much different. Last week the Bucs were in Los Angeles, where nobody seems to care about their football teams.

Let’s put it this way to end this thought. If there were a fight between a loud stadium and Jameis Winston I choose the loud stadium. The Bucs have a solid offensive line, but this Saints defense is gradually improving each week and I think they force a few a turnovers and approach double-digit FP’s for the third straight week.
