Yahoo NFL – Daily fantasy football: Week five picks
By Raju Byfield
Yahoo NFL: Austin Hooper ($19 salary)
The number two fantasy tight end, Austin Hooper has become the number two target for the Atlanta Falcons over the first quarter of the season. Hooper has nine receptions or two touchdowns in three of his four contests.
Averaging a wide receiver level 76.8 receiving yards per game, Hooper has suddenly become one of the highest floor options at the tight end position. In a game that could easily turn into a shootout with a 49 point over/under total, Hooper could very well be a chalky play this week.
Hooper is second among tight ends with 28 receptions, fourth with 307 receiving yards, and 11th with an impressive 2.44 yards per route. The Houston Texans have allowed the second most receptions to the tight end position since Week 14 of last season.
Yahoo NFL: Wayne Gallman ($13 salary)
Wayne Gallman will have at least one more week as the New York Giants lead back. Gallman logged 60 percent of the snaps in Week 4, but seems to have earned himself a bigger workload with a strong performance.
Gallman showed better chemistry than expected with Daniel Jones and is a solid volume based DFS option. His $13 price tag reflects the tough matchup, but a Kirk Cousins led Vikings offense could very well lead to some advantageous field positions.
Gallman saw 64.86 percent of the running back touches in Week 4 and is all about volume with the high probability of a touchdown. He will be facing a tough Vikings defense limiting opponents to 84.75 rushing yards per game at 3.77 yards per carry.
They have allowed 4.75 receptions for 25.75 receiving yards to enemy backs. Gallman is a potential high risk, high reward option that should be contrarian enough to differentiate your week 5 lineup.
Yahoo NFL: Carolina Panthers ($16 salary)
The Denver Broncos were held without a sack for three straight weeks. Against the Jacksonville Jaguars last weekend they recorded five sacks. The Carolina Panthers are the number nine fantasy defense on the season and look to be in line for a big day against the Jaguars offense.
Carolina has 14 sacks over their past two games, a time period over which they also compiled three interceptions. The Panthers appear to be one of the best values on the board for Week 5. Carolina should be good for four to five sacks and one to two turnovers.
