NBA Preseason DFS: Magic @ Pistons

Pistons: No injuries

Magic: Melvin Frazier is OUT.

The Magic are the only team on the slate that already has one game under their belt in the preseason as they beat the Spurs on Saturday night. The starters played between 15-20 minutes on Saturday and that’s about what I would expect from them again tonight unless we hear anything different from coach Steve Clifford. Jonathan Isaac and Aaron Gordon played the most minutes of any starters with 19 and 18, respectively, while Michael Carter-Williams led all players in playing time with 20 minutes off the bench.

MCW (13-6-2 with 4 steals) and Mo Bamba (18-7-1 with 3 blocks) turned in the best fantasy performances and both guys are stat-stuffers who I’d be targeting again tonight.

Detroit returns the majority of their roster from last season with Blake Griffin and Andre Drummond back as the focal point of the Pistons offense. The Pistons are an easy team to figure out for DFS purposes as you rarely have to consider anyone other than Blake or Drum on a nightly basis. Reggie Jackson is occasionally relevant but was stuck in a timeshare with Ish Smith last season.

This year Reggie will have to split time with Derrick Rose, who reportedly has looked great in camp and will anchor the second unit as their primary scorer off the bench. I like Rose quite a bit in this game as I think he should soak up a ton of usage with the backups and I doubt the Pistons play Reggie Jackson more than 15-18 minutes with his injury history.

These teams both played very slow last year, so of all the games tonight this is one of my least favorite to target. I’m looking at the big men on both teams mainly and I’d much prefer stacking some of the other games on this slate.

Elite Plays: MCW, Mo Bamba, Derrick Rose

Als0 Consider: Aaron Gordon, Jonathan Isaac, Terrance Ross, Blake Griffin, Andre Drummond
