Top FanDuel NHL Wings: Oct. 8

At the winger position, I’m going to stack the line of whichever top center I think has the best game. That means stacking the Preds, Flames, or Red Wings top lines. So, for example, I really like the idea of stacking Anthony Mantha ($6,800) and Tyler Bertuzzi ($5,500) with Larkin.

Frankly, after scoring four goals in his last game, Mantha is worth a one-off consideration as well.

Yes, hockey players don’t typically go on hat-trick streaks, but Mantha has five goals in his first two games, and is firing off around seven shots per game. He’s likely to either score or yield an assist or two against the Ducks. and, Bertuzzi is a great value for the potential return.

If we find enough value, though, you can weave in some other top wingers from the other lines you’re considering. For example, even though I’m stacking the Red Wings one-line, I can still likely afford a Johnny Gaudreau ($7,800) as a winger pick as well.

That’s thanks to value plays like Nikolaj Ehlers ($5,000). The Jets don’t have it easy, starting the season off with four road games, but Ehlers has 14 shots on goal in the first three games, and the Penguins offense has carried them to start the last couple of seasons.

Ehlers and the Jets will likely sneak some goals in Pittsburgh, where we could see the highest total goals scored of any game in this slate.

I’m tempted to play some Oilers and Golden Knights, given their offensive hot starts. But, I don’t like the match-ups against the Islanders and Bruins, respectively. That being said, one other team to look at is the Capitals. They don’t have a ton of value, but a Jakub Vrana ($4,700) play is a good shot at double-digit FanDuel NHL points on a cheap salary.
