FanDuel NHL blue line power plays: Oct. 8 main slate
By Matt Rogers
Top FanDuel NHL Goalies & Summary: Oct. 8
I think it’s been well documented by not, but I’d otherwise like John Gibson ($8,200) on Tuesday, if he wasn’t playing the Red Wings in Detroit. But, for that same reason, I don’t like the idea of playing Jimmy Howard ($7,200).
Yes, Howard appears to have great value, but the Ducks are a challenging opponent in what could be a close game. I also don’t think Jimmy gets enough shots on goal to pile up the save volume we want for big FanDuel NHL points.
Tuukka Rask ($8,500) and Marc-Andre Fleury ($8,900) are facing each other, so cancel them out as well. And with the exception of maybe Matt Murray ($8,400), the rest of the goalie options are underwhelming due to slow starts.
Except for David Rittich ($7,700). Earning the top net-minding spot for the Flames to start this season, Rittich has tremendous technique in goal. He started the season with a difficult loss to the Avalanche in Colorado, but he still had a solid 27 saves.
But back at home against the Canucks, Rittich and the Flames blanked Vancouver and David piled up 34 saves in the shutout. That 47.2 FanDuel NHL points is a massive haul considering his salary. I don’t know if we can get another shutout on Tuesday night, but the Flames have a great match-up, for Rittich to stay hot. I love this play for most points and best value, the ideal situation!
After reviewing our favorite options, here’s an example of a lineup we put together for the Tuesday, October 8 Main slate:
C Larkin (DET $7,500)
C Johansen (NSH $5,800)
W Gaudreau (CGY $7,800)
W Mantha (DET ($6,800)
W Bertuzzi (DET $5,500)
W Ehlers (WPG $5,000)
D DeKeyser (DET $4,500)
D Ekholm (NSH $4,400)
G Rittich (CGY $7,700)
Note: This is a recommended lineup after discussing our top options for the week. You should use this as a guide, and provide your own input when building FanDuel NHL lineups. We are not telling you, or selling you, to use this lineup.
