Fantasy Football Advice: Injury Info and Impact

Hunter Henry is officially “questionable” for the Chargers game against the Steelers on Sunday night. He may very well get ruled out by later in the week, but his return appears to be coming soon for the Chargers.

Alex Erickson was forced from the Bengals game against Arizona last week with a concussion. If he ends up being out then the Bengals will be awfully thin at wide receiver again this week with Tyler Boyd, Auden Tate, and Damion Willis being the last men standing among their wideouts.

Jacksonville tight end James O’Shaughnessy tore his ACL and is out for the season. The Jags will use veteran Geoff Swaim and may end up featuring rookie Josh Oliver sooner than later.

The Packers have an extra day to get healthy this week, but keep an eye out on the status of Jamaal Williams and Davante Adams who both missed Green Bay’s Week 5 game against Dallas.

The Giants are extremely banged up right now and get a perfectly timed matchup with the best team in football, the Patriots, on a short week. Sterling Shepard isn’t likely to play, Wayne Gallman could be out, and Saquon Barkley is doubtful, too. Daniel Jones will likely be looking at Golden Tate, Evan Engram, and Darius Slayton in the Giants passing game on Thursday night.

Darren Sproles is questionable this week for the Eagles. He’s quickly becoming an afterthought in the Philly offense as Jordan Howard has seized the early-down work and Miles Sanders is getting most of the other snaps as a change of pace back and receiver in the passing game.

Meanwhile, Eagles slot receiver Desean Jackson is closing in on his return to the lineup and has a chance of playing against Minnesota this week.

Steelers quarterback Mason Rudolph is in the league’s concussion protocol, leaving undrafted free agent Devlin Hodges as the potential starter next Sunday night. Hodges performed admirably against the Ravens but if Rudolph misses this week you really can’t like too much on the Steelers offense for fantasy purposes.

David Johnson is nursing a sore back and will be monitored closely this week by the Cardinals. He’s got a great matchup against the porous Atlanta defense. If he were to miss this week, then Chase Edmonds would become an excellent value play. (Fun Fact: I coached against Chase when he played high school football here in the Harrisburg, PA area.)
