Fantasy Football Advice: Match-ups

Using the data from the first four or five games that each team has played season, here are the top team matchups based on DVOA (defensive value over average) ratings for each team. We have a pretty small sample size to go off here, but it’s still worth noting which defenses have yielded the most yards and touchdowns as well as which defenses are the most vulnerable to the run and the pass.

Best Overall Offensive Matchups

  1. Washington @ Miami
  2. Baltimore vs. Cincinnati
  3. Cincinnati @ Baltimore
  4. Pittsburgh @ L.A. Chargers (Sunday night)
  5. Tennessee @ Denver

Best Running Game Matchups

  1. Houston @ Kansas City
  2. Washington @ Miami
  3. Tampa Bay vs. Carolina (Sunday morning)
  4. Cincinnati @ Baltimore
  5. Detroit @ Green Bay (Monday night)

Best Passing Game Matchups

  1. Washington @ Miami
  2. Baltimore vs. Cincinnati
  3. Pittsburgh @ L.A. Chargers
  4. Miami vs. Washington

Best Defenses (consider using and avoiding with offensive players)
