Fantasy football lineup advice – Tight End

BOOM:

Mark Andrews, BAL vs. CIN

After the first two weeks of the season, it looked like Andrews was emerging fantasy’s newest dynamic tight end. However, the Oklahoma alum has come back to Earth a bit, scoring under 10 fantasy points in two of his past three games. He’s dealt with a nagging foot injury, which limited his availability against the Steelers (played just 43 of 81 offensive snaps). However, when he’s on the field, he’s proven to be Lamar Jackson‘s go-to guy.

More from Fantasy Football

Assuming that the team will have Andrews ready by Sunday, he should be able to slide right back in as an offensive focal point for the Ravens. The Bengals have played fairly well against TEs to this point, ranking as a top-10 team against the position, but don’t have anyone capable of suppressing a tight end of Andrews’ caliber. I’m willing to bet on the talent here against a relatively-unproven defense.

BUST:

Jared Cook, NO @ JAX

One of the more disappointing names thus far at the tight-end position, Cook has mostly failed to produce worthwhile numbers in his new home. This could be partly due to Drew Brees‘ injury, but Cook currently ranks outside the top-20 TEs, mustering only 6.2 FPPG. He enjoyed his best outing of the year last week against a bad Buccaneers’ defense (14.1 points), finding the end-zone for the first time as a Saint.

Those hoping Cook’s Week 6 performance was a sign of things to come should pump the breaks. While he’s seen six targets in each of his last two games, he holds just a 50 percent catch rate and gets a brutal road matchup against the Jags this week. TEs have scored just 9.7 FPPG this season on Jacksonville, and Cook’s schedule doesn’t get any lighter next week when the Chicago Bears come to town. Owners should strongly consider looking elsewhere for production.

Sleeper:

Chris Herndon, NYJ @ DAL

Herndon is another player that returns from his four-game suspension this week and should get his starting quarterback, Sam Darnold, back as well. Herndon built a strong rapport with Darnold last season, finishing as fantasy’s overall TE9 from Week 6 on. It may take a week or two for the second-year TE to get back into the swing of things, but don’t be surprised if he picks up right where he left off.
