2020 NFL mock draft: Jalen Hurts lands with Titans
By Brad Weiss
The Seattle Seahawks made a huge statement in their Week 5 matchup against division rival Los Angeles on Thursday Night Football. Playing in front of the national audience, the Seahawks dominated the Rams on both sides of the ball, and five weeks through the season, they look like a real contender in the NFC.
Of course, quarterback Russell Wilson was magnificent again, but what has really been impressive is the play of this Seahawks defense. They have the talent on all three levels to get it done against even a high-powered offense like the Rams, but they should continue to add to the group in the 2020 NFL Draft.
One of the better defensive backs in this draft class is Xavier McKinney, a tough safety from Alabama. The Seahawks have been looking for a way to replace Earl Thomas since he jettisoned to Baltimore this offseason, and in McKinney, they could get a guy with a familiar skill set, and one who comes from a winning program, playing for Nick Saban and the Crimson Tide.
The New Orleans Saints continue to roll with Teddy Bridgewater as their quarterback, as he is showing signs that he could be returning to the player who was one of the better young signal-callers in the game a few years back. While it remains to be seen whether or not they will re-sign Bridgewater, as he is only on a one-year deal, he is certainly making a case for himself that he needs to be a starting quarterback somewhere in 2020.
If the Saints do part ways with Bridgewater, they are going to need a backup plan behind star quarterback Drew Brees. One interesting prospect in the 2020 NFL Draft class is LSU quarterback Joe Burrow, who has played himself into the Heisman Trophy picture thanks to his play, leading the Tigers to a 5-0 record in a tough SEC West division.
Burrow would be the perfect successor to Brees in New Orleans, as Brees is not getting any younger, and Burrow already has a following with the Saints faithful. This is a kid who can make all the throws, and learning behind Brees for a few seasons could be the perfect scenario for him as he enters the NFL ranks.
