2020 NFL mock draft: Jalen Hurts lands with Titans
By Brad Weiss
The San Francisco 49ers took on the Cleveland Browns on Monday Night Football in Week 5 to close out the NFL slate, in a matchup between two young quarterbacks in Baker Mayfield and Jimmy Garoppolo. During the game, the 49ers proved to be one of the better all around teams in the NFL, thanks to an incredible pass rush led by Nick Bosa, and a balanced offense led by Jimmy Garoppolo.
Looking at this roster, there is a lot to like, and if they can stay balanced on offense, they have enough talent on defense to win the division. Bosa is going to be an absolute star, and if Jimmy G can stay healthy, the 49ers are going to be hard to beat. In the secondary, Richard Sherman continues to dominate at his advanced NFL age, and bringing in his potential replacement could be the way to go this late in round one.
One of the elite cornerback prospects in this draft class is Trevon Diggs, who is not only a star for the Alabama Crimson Tide, but also the brother of Minnesota Vikings star wideout Stefon Diggs. With Sherman aging, but still productive, he would be a perfect teacher for Diggs, who has the NFL pedigree, and comes from a winning culture at Alabama.
The New England Patriots are not only making things happen on the offensive side of the ball, where Tom Brady has the offense rolling, but it has been their defense that has been extremely special. Heading into the season, it was up in the air as to how good this defense could actually be, but Bill Belichick has them playing at an elite level through their first five games.
When it comes time for the 2020 NFL Draft, the Patriots are going to be picking late in round one, and may even hold the final pick at No. 32. If they have that pick, they may want to target another elite player to add to their defense, bringing in Marvin Wilson, a mountain of a man who can play all along the defensive line.
The Patriots are the team to beat entering Week 6 of the 2019 NFL season, and they are going to absolutely run away with the AFC East. Brady has once again dipped into the Fountain of Youth, and based on what we have seen from this defense, it is going to be very hard for any team in the conference to beat them across four quarters.
