2020 NFL mock draft: Jalen Hurts lands with Titans
By Brad Weiss
Incredibly, if the season ended tomorrow, the Miami Dolphins would hold two of the top-5 picks in the 2020 NFL Draft. That is because the Pittsburgh Steelers, who traded the Dolphins their first round pick next April for Minkah Fitzpatrick, are currently one of the worst teams in football, and it does not look to be getting better any time soon.
With their first pick, which they will likely own due to their ineptitude, the Dolphins should bring in a franchise quarterback, leaving them open to bringing in a franchise left tackle at No. 5. This season, the Dolphins decided to trade away Laremy Tunsil to the Houston Texans, netting another 2020 first rounder, so adding Andrew Thomas here makes a lot of sense.
Thomas is without a doubt the No. 1 offensive tackle in this draft class, and he possesses the skill set to come right in and start on the left side at the NFL level. If the Dolphins are in fact blowing this thing up, starting their new era with guys like Justin Herbert and Andrew Thomas would be a good way to go.
The Denver Broncos finally punched one into the win column on Sunday, as they went to Carson, California and knocked off the Los Angeles Chargers in AFC West action. The Broncos were led by a steady game from quarterback Joe Flacco, who has not been dominant in his first season with the team, but has put up better numbers than his last few seasons in Baltimore.
Still, while Flacco is a good stopgap this season, he is in no way the man who will be the team’s franchise quarterback moving forward. With the No. 6 overall pick in round 1 next April, the Broncos should look to add Jake Fromm from Georgia, who many believe is one of the top four quarterbacks in this draft class.
The Broncos franchise has been struggling to find a franchise quarterback since Peyton Manning retired, and they have been through some bad ones, including some terrible draft picks. Fromm has all the markings of being a star at the next level, and playing for Georgia, he comes with the pedigree of playing in some high pressure games already.
