MLW Fusion recap and reactions Oct. 7, 2019: Incoming Attack
By Paul Bradley
Hart Stopper
The main event of this week’s Fusion sees the Hart Foundation’s Brian Pillman Jr. against Austin Aries.
Aries returned to MLW in a massive way as he attacked MLW Middleweight Champion Teddy Hart and gave him a heart-stopping brainbuster on the ring apron. Hart’s stablemate Pillman took umbrage to the unprovoked attack and looked to defend his family member by taking on Aries in this contest.
Aries started the contest by slapping Pillman, who then asked for another but blocked the second slap attempt. Pillman fought Aries out to the floor. Aries took the upper-hand with a suicide dive and missile dropkick. Aries went for the apron brainbuster he hit on Hart but his attempt was blocked. Pillman hit a crisp suplex but Aries kicked out while also clapping his hands on Pillman’s ears, which threw off the young competitor.
Pillman looked to finish the match but his finisher attempt was blocked. Pillman settled for a Northern Lights suplex but Aries was able to maneuver into his submission finisher, The Last Chancery. Pillman got to the ropes but Aries had the control and went for another attempt at the apron brainbuster and was once again denied. Pillman went for a last-ditch effort but was put down by Aries who finally hit a brainbuster, in the ring, which garnered him the win.
Aries got on the mic afterwards and called out Teddy Hart and claimed the reason he attacked him was just because he wanted the Middleweight Title. Hart ran out to the ring and started to brawl with Aries as the show went off the air.
The two put on a solid match that put over Aries and his new mean streak. Pillman came out looking fine but this match was all about making Aries look like a credible opponent for Hart for the upcoming MLW pay-per-view.
This week we were treated to a great episode of MLW Fusion that should leave fans wanting more and counting down the days until the next episode.
