NFL DFS game by game breakdown: Week 6
By Joe Metz
NFL DFS: New Orleans Saints @ Jacksonville Jaguars
PREVIEW
For the second game in a row, Leonard Fournette commanded 20+ touches and looked dominant and efficient, something that couldn’t necessarily have been said through the first two seasons of his career. He and the Jags now get the opportunity to face a Saints defense that has been rather stout over the last season and change against the run. Which side is going to give? That’s what’s yet to be seen.
As for the Saints, they’ll hope Jalen Ramsey continues to be inactive for the Jags secondary, as they’ve dropped to allowing the 9th most fantasy points per game to wide receivers. Because of his absence, this could be another smash spot for Michael Thomas.
CASH PLAYS
Gardner Minshew (QB – JAC): This play pertains more to DraftKings as he is dirt cheap against a Saints defense that has allowed the 3rd most fantasy points per game to QBs (23.7) and ranks 26th overall in pass DVOA. Rostering Minshew opens up a heap of flexibility throughout the rest of your roster.
DJ Chark (WR – JAC): Chark has been on a tear to open the season, registering 5 scores through his first 5 games and averaging a shade under 100 yards per game. Not only is he receiving the volume of a WR1, he has 536 air yards compared to 485 receiving yards, indicating we could see more “boom” performances ahead.
Alvin Kamara (RB – NO): He’s seen less than 20 touches in a game only once this season (week 2) after averaging only 13 carries per game last season. The Jaguars rank 23rd in rush DVOA and have allowed the 5th most fantasy points per game to RBs on the season, making this an exploitable matchup for Kamara, who feels a few hundred dollars too cheap.
GPP PLAYS
Leonard Fournette (RB – JAC): Over the last two weeks, Fournette has averaged 26 carries, 166.5 yards and 0.5 TDs on the ground while adding 3 receptions per game. His price has still not caught up with his ridiculous amount of volume and even in a tough matchup, the volume alone presents a heightened ceiling.
Michael Thomas (WR – NO): If Jalen Ramsey is to sit again, Thomas should be able to have a field day against Tre Herndon, the 98th ranked CB according to PFF with a player grade of 44.8. He’s fresh off of an 11-182-2 outing and is commanding an elite 32.74% target share. On top of that, he’s already registered 3 TDs with Teddy Bridgewater.
