NBA Preseason DFS: 76ers @ Hornets

76ers: Joel Embiid is OUT.

Hornets: Nicolas Batum is OUT. Cody Martin is doubtful.

The Sixers are ready to take on their first NBA team this preseason. They scored 144 points against Chinese team Guangzhou in their opener and Twitter went crazy over Ben Simmons drilling a deep three. The Sixers are my pick to win the East this year and I really love what they did in the offseason bringing in Josh Richardson and Al Horford.

But I digress. As far as tonight goes we have Joel Embiid resting and I want to capitalize. With Jimmy Butler out of town, it’s going to be the Ben Simmons show tonight and it’s going to be fun to watch. He’s such a unique talent and despite all the criticism he gets for not having a reliable jumper, he’s still managed to be an elite fantasy player. He can contribute in every category and he’s a bad mismatch for this Charlotte team that lost Jeremy Lamb and won’t suit up Nicolas Batum.

Kyle O’Quinn, Mike Scott, and Jonah Bolden should soak up the Embiid minutes and I’m interested in all of them. I’m guessing O’Quinn starts and I have the most interest in him since he’s a stat machine, but I also like Mike Scott a good bit off the bench as he isn’t shy about getting up shots with the second unit. Al Horford interests me, too, and Josh Richardson is a guy who can rack up fantasy points in a number of ways. I’ll have a lot of exposure to the Sixers unless we hear something about limited minutes.

The Hornets are going to be bad this year and the lone bright spots in their starting lineup right now are Terry Rozier and Miles Bridges. Rozier has a solid history against the Sixers and is going to have to help carry this offense. He’s also an excellent rebounder for his size and can rack up steals. Bridges is still pretty raw but has flashed some nice upside already this preseason with a double-double against Boston. Wing players gave Philly some trouble last season so I think Bridges could be in a good spot here. If Philly pushes the tempo without Embiid we could see this game get up and down quite a bit.

Elite Plays: Ben Simmons, Kyle O’Quinn, Terry Rozier

Secondary Plays: Mike Scott, Josh Richardson, Miles Bridges, Al Horford
