NFL DFS: Wide Receiver Pivots

Michael Thomas is the best receiver in football, and I really don’t care who knows it. He catches just about every ball thrown his way and has the best hands in the league. Many thought that having Teddy Bridgewater at quarterback would really bring his value down, but he went absolutely crazy last week with a monster 11-182-2 line.

He’s such a big part of this offense and his ability to get open on short, intermediate, and deep routes mean there’s not really any coverage you can design to stop him. As long as Teddy B has time, he’s going to find Thomas. One PPR sites like Draftkings, his target volume is going to be appealing every week, and I was really surprised to him projected for less than 15% ownership this week. His price increase and the perceived matchup must have people off him, and not even recency bias can keep his ownership up. Play this man, he is good! Is that oversimplified analysis? Probably, but I don’t know what else there is to say!

Dede Westbrook is going to line up in the slot this week fairly often, which is going to allow him to avoid Marshon Lattimore‘s coverage and therefore he’s my pivot off the chalky Chark and my preferred stacking mate for Gardner Minshew. We’ve been waiting on Westbrook to have a breakout game as he’s been overshadowed by Chark for most of the season. However, he had his most catches (7), targets (11), and yards (82) in last week’s game and seems to be growing his role in the offense. Hopefully, Minshew is starting to gain confidence in his other receivers and spreads the ball around this week instead of honing in on Chark, who will likely draw some double coverage and the Saints best defender in Lattimore on many snaps.
