NFL FanDuel: Week 6 DEF Targets – (Early Only)

Minnesota Vikings – $3,600 – (Cash/GPP)

I am just going to go ahead and say it. Defense flat out sucks on this slate. The Redskins are probably your chalk simply because they play the putrid Dolphins, but I just cannot get behind playing them on the road, and with a brand new interim head coach in Brian Callahan. Callahan says he wants to pound the ball with Adrian Peterson, and in what could end up a run-heavy game script on both sides, the opportunity for sacks and INT’s just will not be there.

Obviously the Ravens are another cash option that will garner some ownership against another struggling team in the Bengals, but let’s be honest. The Bengals offense is not terrible, it is the defense that is not giving this team a chance and the reason they are off to an 0-5 start. And on top of that, the Ravens defense just has not been great either.

For me, this is the ideal week to get back to paying down at defense. The Vikings have a tough match-up against Carson Wentz and the Eagles, but we know Minnesota has a defense full of playmakers who could cause fits for the Philly signal-caller. I do not think any defenses are going to break the slate this week like we have seen the Patriots do this season, and I want to take my best crack at what I perceive as the best value.

The Vikings are at home and this defense plays better at U.S. Bank Stadium. The Eagles are going to score some points, but I also think Wentz will make some mistakes if the Vikings bring the same pressure they brought last week against the Giants. The defense spot is almost a crapshoot on this tiny 6-game slate, and I do not think paying up will have any benefit here.
