2. Dallas Cowboys

Through three weeks of the season, the Dallas Cowboys were being considered as one of the best teams in the NFL. The Cowboys had thoroughly dominated the New York Giants, Washington Redskins and Miami Dolphins to improve to 3-0 on the year, leading to some Super Bowl talk.

The brakes have definitely been pumped on that talk since then, with the New Orleans Saints bottling up the Cowboys’ offense in the Superdome in Week 4. Last Sunday saw the Green Bay Packers walk into Jerry World and open up a 31-3 lead, putting the Cowboys in such a deep hole that they were unable to recover.

One of the big problems in the loss to the Packers was poor play from Dak Prescott, who was harassed by the Green Bay pass rush and threw three interceptions. Starting left tackle Tyron Smith was out for that game, and right tackle La’el Collins left with an injury, leaving one of football’s best lines without two of its starters.

The losses dropped the Cowboys back into a first-place tie in the NFC East with the Philadelphia Eagles, and the two teams square off in Dallas. That makes it imperative for the Cowboys to snap their losing streak, and the schedule-makers gave them a gift with a trip to MetLife Stadium to take on the 0-4 Jets.

The Jets are getting healthier, with Sam Darnold slated to return to action and two key starters coming off suspension in tight end Chris Herndon and outside linebacker Brandon Copeland. Even with the new additions, the Jets are no match for Dallas, and the Cowboys can’t afford to give Adam Gase his first victory as Jets’ head coach if they want to stay even with the Eagles.
