DFS fantasy football – Running Backs to Start

Aaron Jones (GB) vs. DET

I’m sure you all saw this one coming from a mile away. After nearly scoring 50.0 fantasy points while rushing for 107 yards, four touchdowns, and an additional 75 yards receiving, Jones comes as one of fantasy’s must starts for Week 6. Given that the possibility of Davante Adams may not be present for Sunday’s matchup against the Lions, the Packers may feel compelled to ride the hot-hand with Jones once again to find success on the offensive side of the ball. Jones is currently a high end RB2 with lots of upside to jolt him back up as an RB1, especially since opposing backs have scored the fourth-most fantasy points per game against Detroit (22.5).

Matt Breida (SF) @ LAR

Despite the return of Tevin Coleman to the team’s run-game, Breida still found a way to be the lead back in San Francisco’s offense on Monday night. His first run against the Browns was an 83-yard touchdown run to give the 49ers a 7-0 lead early in the first quarter. He finished the evening off with 114 rushing yards, a touchdown and an additional 15 receiving yards for a touchdown as San Francisco routed Cleveland 31-3 on Monday Night Football. There is something truly special brewing in that 49ers backfield as they currently lead the league in rushing as a whole. Breida is a fine start to have in your lineup against a Rams defense that gave up around 19.0 fantasy points to Chris Carson one week before.

Mark Ingram (BAL) vs. CIN

Initially, I thought Ingram was not going to thrive as much as he did during his days in New Orleans, but it turns out I was wrong. Through the first five games of the season, Ingram is RB9 averaging 17.8 fantasy points per game among active running backs. The Bengals have been the second-most generous defense in the league when it comes to opposing backs scoring fantasy points off of them (29.0/gm). Expect to see the run-heavy Ravens use this formula to exploit Cincinnati’s biggest weakness in this AFC North rivalry battle.
