Fantasy football 2019 week 6 streaming defenses
By Bill Pivetz
Fantasy football owners are looking for a one-week wonder on defenses and there are a few available to stream with four teams on a bye.
Fantasy football owners have had a hard time finding consistent defenses to start. Unless you have the Patriots or Bears, you’re likely looking at the matchups each week. The Bears and Bills, two of the top-six scoring defenses, are on bye as well as the Raiders and Colts. That takes two more defenses off the table.
Looking ahead to week 6, some of the widely available defenses don’t have the best matchups to stream. Defenses like Houston and Philadelphia would be streaming picks any other week, they face two solid offenses that could put up a lot of points.
As a result, I had to expand my search results. I usually stick with defenses owned in less than 50 percent of ESPN leagues. However, I was only able to find two options. I added a third defense still owned in less than 60 percent, so that’s good enough.

All three defenses are playing on the road. While that may be trouble for two of them, the third defense is playing in London, a neutral site. These defenses have good matchups and can score a lot of points this week.
Panthers, @TB
The Carolina/Tampa Bay matchup takes place in London, starting at 9:30 AM EST. Over the last couple of years, these games have yielded some fantasy relevance with scores in the mid-20s but we’ve also seen teams get shutout overseas.
Jameis Winston has been a bit more safe with the ball but is still prone to making mistakes. The Panthers scored 14 fantasy points even with allowing 27 points to the Jaguars. They have 20 sacks, four interceptions and four fumble recoveries on the season.
The running game is in flux, putting the pressure on Winston to move the ball. This is a defense that needs to be owned in more leagues.
Redskins, @MIA
This game could end 3-0 with the way both of these offenses have been playing. Miami has scored just two total touchdowns this season, none on the ground. They haven’t been able to do anythign on the ground, 207 total yards.
While the Redskins aren’t a shining example of production, they have some weapons that can score fantasy points. The defense started off poorly with back-to-back negative three points but have scored 16 points in the next three games.
I wouldn’t want to watch this game unless you have a player on your fantasy team. Washington’s defense should be able to rack up another three or four sacks with an interception.
Seahawks, @CLE
Seattle’s defense was unable to stop the Rams offense, allowing 29 points with just one interception and one fumble. They scored negative two points. This week, they get to rebound against a struggling Browns offense.
In between an offensive outpouring against Baltimore, Cleveland put up a total of 450 yards in two games. Baker Mayfield has been a bit careless with the ball, eight interceptions and sacked 16 times.
The Seahawks defense doesn’t have the big playmakers like they had in seasons past but can create turnovers. They are the definition of a streaming defense this week.
These defenses are not good enough to start every week but with the right matchup, and with bye weeks, they can be a viable asset to your fantasy team.
