Fantasy football picks: Week 6 MNF Packers vs. Lions

Aaron Rodgers – This is a play that I am struggling with. Of course on a single game, we have to be talking about Rodgers though. Detroit is a team that is just not that good at defending the pass. They give up the tenth most points to the quarterback position. Now we have to consider that Rodgers is missing his best weapon in Adams. That is going to impact his own upside.

The question becomes about the complementary pieces. Will they be able to produce? Overall it’s been a pretty bad season for Rodgers. He has only reached 20 points in one game, the completion rate is down, he only has six touchdowns, only exceeding 40 passing attempts one time. Either way, this is still a top spend up option on a one-game slate.

Aaron Jones – If you can’t tell already, this is the Aaron slide. I would expect this to be the most popular choice in the MVP spot, alongside Rodgers of course. People love to chase game logs, and Jones has quite the box score from last week, to say the least. He scored four touchdowns, on 180 yards, including seven receptions, and 19 rushing attempts. Jones was basically the sole healthy back on this team, so that resulted in a very heavy workload.

That doesn’t always translate into fantasy production, but in the case of Jones, it’s pretty obvious that it worked out very well for him. The passing game has been struggling, especially since Adams went down. Detroit gives up the fourth-most points to opposing running backs, which only boosts the upside of Jones. He is a must play in cash games.
