Daily fantasy golf: FanDuel PGA – Low-tier picks ($9,000-$10,000)

Danny Willett – $9,700 – (Cash)

Sticking with the theme of targeting players that have been playing well on the European Tour, we land on a recent winner in Danny Willett. At a very tough course and in a competitive field at the BMW PGA Championship, Willett was one of two golfers to shoot all four rounds in the 60’s, and he was able to hold off a streaking Jon Rahm by three strokes to capture the victory, the 7th of his professional career. In his two events following the win, Willett T-26 at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship, and T-18 at the Italian Open last week.

Willett made his debut here at the CJ Cup last season, and while it was a mixed bag with a 77 on Friday, he ended it with a 65 on Sunday and was able to move into a respectable T-23 finish. He has worked his way inside the top-30 of the OWGR, and with that in consideration, he feels like he too could have another $500 or so added to his salary. The 2016 Masters champion is playing well again and appears to be another solid cash game option this week.

Tyrrell Hatton – $9,100 – (GPP)

Around this time a year ago, I was likely writing up Hatton for the first time. Another primarily European Tour professional, Hatton was in great form coming in off of five straight finishes inside the top-30 including a T-2 in his previous action at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship. He got off to a rough start here at Nine Bridges with rounds of 72 and 73 but fought his way back to finish 9-under par for the tournament, good for a T-14 finish.

Hatton comes into this year’s CJ Cup not quite in the form that he was at this point last year, and all that should do for us this week is keep him a bit under the radar. He started the new season with a missed cut at the BMW PGA Championship but is trending back in the right direction after back-to-back top 20’s. Hatton T-15 at the Dunhill this season, and followed it with a T-18 at the Italian Open last week. I think Chez Reavie comes in fairly highly owned this week with his history here at Nine Bridges, and Hatton looks like the perfect GPP pivot from a salary viewpoint.
