2020 NFL mock draft: Justin Herbert lands with Bengals
By Brad Weiss
With their third and final pick of the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft, the Miami Dolphins should look to bring in a player to replace the one they gave away for the pick. The Dolphins traded away former first round pick Laremy Tunsil to the Houston Texans for this selection, and with it, they should bring in Trey Smith, a strong offensive tackle from Tennessee.
Miami has a long way to go in terms of rebuilding this roster, but they will hold five first round draft picks over the next two drafts. That is the same draft capital that the Raiders used to help rebuild their roster so far in 2019, and early on, the added draft picks have helped turn them into a winner through five games of the NFL season.
With this final first round pick, Miami would be bringing in an elite quarterback, one of the better cornerbacks in college football, and an offensive tackle that can come in and play on the left side right away. That is the kind of draft haul that can turn this franchise around quickly, and it will be interesting to see what route the team goes on draft night.
The Buffalo Bills had the week off this past weekend, but through their first five games of the 2019 NFL season, they have been one of the pleasant surprises in the AFC. Sitting at 4-1, with their only loss coming in a hard-fought battle with the New England Patriots, this team is a legitimate playoff contender, and should be in this one for the long run this season.
During the 2018 NFL Draft, the Bills traded up to select Wyoming quarterback Josh Allen in the first round, and he is slowly devloping into a legitimate franchise signal-caller. On defense, the Bills have also upgraded in a bunch of areas, but could still utilize their first round pick on a defensive lineman for the second straight year.
Teaming Javon Kinlaw from South Carolina with a talent like Ed Oliver would be devastating for the rest of the AFC East, which has been run by said Patriots for decades now. This is a Bills team that is being built up the right way, and with a defensive genius in Sean McDermott as the head coach, Kinlaw could really flourish in Buffalo.
