NFL Draft A.J. Epenesa

Edge. New York Giants. A.J. Epenesa. 9. player. 31.

The New York Giants went into their game with the New England Patriots on Thursday night as a heavy underdog, but they actually put together a solid first  half of football. In fact, the Giants hung with the Patriots for the first half, and had it not been for the turnovers, and all their injuries heading into the game, they may have made the final score much closer than it ended up being.

Still, this is a Giants team with not only a bunch of injuries right now, but also a rookie quarterback, as the team made the move from Eli Manning to Daniel Jones a few weeks back. Jones has shown he can succeed at the NFL level, but this is going to be a learning process this season, and they should be picking in the top-10 next April.

With that pick, the Giants need to add more talent to their defense, and A.J. Epenesa from Iowa is one of the more elite edge rushers in this draft class. The Giants struggle to get after the quarterback, so sitting at No. 9 overall, they would get a franchise pass rusher in Epenesa, who has the talent to be a double-digit sack guy at the next level.

player. 13. . Offensive Tackle. Los Angeles Chargers. Tristan Wirfs. 10

The Los Angeles Chargers took on the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday Night Football in Week 6, and were expected to throttle a team that was playing with their third string quarterback. Remember, this is a Chargers team that was expected to make a run at the Super Bowl this season, but had still yet to get their season on track.

Well, not only did the Chargers lose, but they were down 24-0 at one point, and it is clear that this team is headed in the wrong direction. Philip Rivers, while still productive, is aging for this team, and it is not clear whether or not he is still going to be the man moving forward. At No. 10, they could certainly be in the market for a quarterback.

With their first round pick in 2020, if they are picking in the top-10, they may want to do something to bolster the offensive tackle position instead. Tristan Wirfs from Iowa is an absolute monster of a man, and based on what the Chargers have trotted out at offensive tackle in recent years, he would be a perfect addition to a young offensive line.
