2020 NFL mock draft: Justin Herbert lands with Bengals
By Brad Weiss
The Detroit Lions took on the Green Bay Packers in Monday Night Football action to cap off Week 6 of the NFL schedule, and got out to a fast start against Aaron Rodgers and company. However, the Packers were able to come back and seal the victory by one point, sending the Lions to a 2-2-1 start to open the 2019 NFL campaign.
Truth be told, the Lions have been surprisingly good this season, and should be a team that challenges for a Wild Card in a tough NFC in 2019. Quarterback Matthew Stafford has been very good protecting the ball this season, but the Lions would be wise to bring him in another weapon via the 2020 NFL Draft next April.
Henry Ruggs III may be the second-best wide receiver at Alabama, but he may also be the second-best wide receiver in college football as well. Adding him to an already strong wide receiver group in Detroit may be the way to go next April, as Stafford is in his prime, and the Lions are suddenly strong on both sides of the ball.
The Indianapolis Colts had the weekend off in Week 6, but have been one of the stronger teams in the AFC this season. After a stunning loss at the hands of the Oakland Raiders a few weeks back, the Colts bounced back in primetime to beat the Kansas City Chiefs, proving they are a player in the AFC playoff picture this season.
Quarterback Jacoby Brissett has stepped in beautifully for Andrew Luck, who shocked the football landscape when he decided to retire during the preseason. Brissett has proven that he is a legitimate franchise guy at the NFL level, and the team would be wise to bring him in some weapons this offseason.
Sitting at No. 18 overall in the 2020 NFL Draft, the Colts could be in play for Laviska Shenault Jr., an incredibly talented wide receiver from Colorado. Shenault is the kind of wide receiver who would be a perfect pairing with T.Y. Hilton, giving Brissett the kind of weapons he is going to need on the outside if he wants to continue to grow into an elite quarterback in the NFL.
