Fantasy football lineup advice – Week 7 BOOM or BUST!

Week 6 Recap:

Where do I even begin? Let’s take a look at an underwhelming set of fantasy football BOOM picks (sigh). Someway, somehow, the Broncos halted Derrick Henry to just 28 yards (lowest of the season) on 15 attempts after allowing over 100 yards per game to RBs to start the year. Dak Prescott managed to salvage his day with a rushing touchdown as the Cowboys’ comeback attempt against the Jets fell just short, while D.J. Chark fell victim to Gardner Minshew‘s disastrous day.

For the picks that hit, each of the three looked to be in for huge games through the first half. Kenyan Drake was a vultured touchdown away from a big game, Adam Thielen took a back seat to Stefon Diggs on his monster day, and Mark Andrews was shredding the Bengals’ D before a fumble stopped a huge stat line dead in its tracks.

Onto the BUSTs, most were right-on, but a few slipped there way into relevance. Golden Tate took full advantage of being the Giants’ only talented pass-catcher active, dropping a big line on a historically-good Pats’ D and Jared Cook proved his touchdown dependence we previously spoke about. However, he fell into the end-zone for his second TD this season to give him just under 13 fantasy points.

The rest turned in pretty awful outings. With the running-backs, Jordan Howard was a non-factor in a game where the Eagles played from behind throughout while LeSean McCoy continued to trend in the wrong direction. JuJu Smith-Schuster (although immensely talented) sputtered with Devlin Hodges at QB, something we saw coming from a mile away. Lastly, Matthew Stafford, while he’s been a fine option most of the year, fell flat against the Packers in what was a horribly-officiated game.

BOOM Picks:

QB Dak Prescott @ NYJ – 277 passing yards, 11 rushing yards, TD (18.2 points)

RB Derrick Henry @ DEN – 28 rushing yards, 1 reception for 5 yards (4.3 points)

RB Kenyan Drake vs. WSH – 40 rushing yards, 6 receptions for 30 yards (13 points)

WR Adam Thielen vs. PHI – 6 receptions for 57 yards, TD (17.7 points)

WR D.J. Chark vs. NO – 3 receptions for 43 yards (7.3 points)

TE Mark Andrews vs. CIN – 6 receptions for 99 yards, FUM (13.9 points)

BUST Picks:

QB Matthew Stafford @ GB – 265 passing yards, 9 rushing yards (11.5 points)

RB Jordan Howard @ MIN – 49 rushing yards (4.9 points)

RB LeSean McCoy vs. HOU – 44 rushing yards, 2 receptions for 0 yards (6.4 points)

WR JuJu Smith-Schuster @ LAC – 1 reception for 7 yards (1.7 points)

WR Golden Tate @ NE – 6 receptions for 102 yards, TD (22.2 points)

TE Jared Cook @ JAX – 3 receptions for 37 yards, TD (12.7 points)

Total Picks Correct – 7/12

"DISCLAIMER: “BOOM or BUST” isn’t exactly a “Start or Sit” column. I identify and provide analysis for players who aren’t a top-tier starting option that I believe will exceed expectations – and also those who will fail to meet them. It should be remembered that these picks are done at the beginning of the week, so better options may surface as the week progresses and we get a better idea on various injuries and player situations. Use your best judgement and keep tabs on news updates around the league up until kickoff on Sunday… Without further ado, let’s dive right into this week’s matchups!"
