NBA Preseason DFS: Hawks @ Knicks

Hawks

Atlanta has been fairly predictable with their minutes this preseason but has really only given decent minutes to Trae Young and John Collins of their starters. Young continues to be their top fantasy player and is jacking up a ton of shots (17 last game) which makes him a solid play just on volume alone. He’s turning the ball over at ridiculous rates, but the usage is hard to ignore. Collins is a tough sell for me based on his salary on FanDuel, but he’s certainly got potential against this defensively-challenged, young Knicks team. DeAndre’ Bembry continues to be the one wing player who is getting solid minutes and is producing regardless of if he is starting or coming off the bench.

Top Plays: Trae Young

Secondary Plays: John Collins, DeAndre’ Bembry

Knicks

The Knicks are really appealing tonight against the Hawks, who play no defense and like to play at a fast pace. The only problem is that they are all the sudden getting healthy. Dennis Smith Jr. and Damyean Dotson are probable to return to the lineup tonight which is going to muddy the minutes in the backcourt. R.J Barrett is the one guy who’s been getting huge minutes all preseason long and is still likely going to get solid run as the Knicks are trying to feature their rookie. He’s an elite play tonight and someone I’ll have a lot of exposure to in my lineups.

The minutes in the frontcourt are tough to predict, but Julius Randle and Marcus Morris have been getting the most of any Knicks big men so far and are both solid plays. Bobby Portis played a lot last game off the bench at the expense of Mitchell Robinson, but who knows how that timeshare pans out tonight. They’re both risky plays as is Taj Gibson, who has been productive in limited minutes. If we get one of these guys from this group resting then perhaps we can feel more confident about playing some of the others.

Top Plays: R.J. Barrett, Marcus Morris

Secondary Plays: Julius Randle, Bobby Portis
