NBA Preseason DFS: Trail Blazers @ Jazz
Trail Blazers
The Blazers are going to be sneaky tonight! For some reason, people still avoid teams when they face the Jazz and we saw this just the other night when no one played the Kings, who went out and dropped 130 points on Utah. This is not the old Utah Jazz, they still have Gobert inside, but they can play fast at times and can get into high-scoring games.
In their last game, both Damian Lillard and C.J. McCollum saw close to 30 minutes and if we get word that they’ll get that much time again tonight you have to consider them strong GPP plays. Hassan Whiteside should start at center and has a solid track record against Gobert. He’s way too cheap for his upside, even in 22-24 minutes. The other guy to consider is Zach Collins, who has been playing really well off the bench and getting 24-25 minutes a game this preseason.
Top Plays: Damian Lillard, C.J. McCollum
Secondary Plays: Zach Collins, Hassan Whiteside
Jazz
The Utah side of this game interests me a good bit, too, as Portland is not a great defensive team and I do think this game could be high scoring. Donovan Mitchell is going to be the main guy on offense for Utah on most nights and is coming off a 22-5-2 performance on Monday night in 28 minutes. The other starters I’m interested in are Bojan Bogdanovic and Rudy Gobert.
Bogdanovic has been getting a lot of shots up this preseason and while he’s fairly scoring dependent, he’s also one of the best three-point shooters in the NBA. Gobert does what he does and is a steady source of boards and blocks and will always bring a nice floor. Joe Ingles is my favorite play from Utah as he is now the 6th man for this team and getting a chance to run the second unit. He posted 12-4-8 on Monday night in 24 minutes and is a great value on both sites tonight.
