NBA Preseason DFS: Warriors @ Lakers

Warriors

The Warriors play the Lakers…again. This will be their third time matching up this preseason, though it seems it has been with several stars from each team missing on different nights. Tonight the Warriors will rest Steph Curry, which will thrust D’Angelo Russell into the primary ball-handler and scoring role with the first unit. He’s an elite play in all formats and despite my well-documented disdain for his game, I have to suck it up and play him tonight.

Marquese Chriss is still 3500 on FanDuel and should be 100% owned after what he’s done in his last two games. He’s a free square, just plug him in and move along. He’s 5700 on Draftkings so at least they are making you think about it. The other Warriors’ secondary pieces to consider are Jordan Poole, Damion Lee, Eric Paschall, and Alphonso McKinnie.

Poole started Monday and played 25 minutes on Monday but only shot 3-14 from the field, while Lee came off the bench and posted 18-9 in 22 minutes. They’re my favorite two of these young wing players.

Top Plays: D’Angelo Russell, Marquese Chriss

Secondary Plays: Damion Lee, Jordan Poole

Lakers

The Lakers are a bit of an enigma as of right now and hopefully, we get more clarity on their situation as the day goes on. Anthony Davis practiced in full yesterday, but will the Lakers risk playing him tonight? And if he does play, will he play anything close to decent minutes? LeBron has already said he will play tonight, but we saw the Lakers reduce his minutes several times already this preseason. If either or both of them play then you have to consider them, but it’s a risky situation that I’d avoid if possible.

The rest of this Lakers team is a little bit of a mess. Dwight Howard seems to have beaten out JaVale McGee for more minutes at center and both guys are productive when they get enough time. A lot depends on how much the Lakers stars play tonight. Alex Caruso is a viable punt play even though he was a dud on Monday, while Zach Norvell came out of nowhere to post 22 points in 32 minutes. I wouldn’t read into the Lakers rotations from Monday too much as we could see them change quite a bit tonight.

Top Plays: Dwight Howard, Alex Caruso

Secondary Plays: LeBron James, Anthony Davis (if they play)
