College football betting early results October 12:

South Carolina at Georgia(-23.5): HIT! I expected a closer game, but not an outright win…with a backup quarterback….with Georgia not scoring in either overtime…..with automatic kicker Rodrigo Blankenship missing a field goal to lose the game. This whole thing defies logic, which is what’s great about college football. This was the first time the Cocks won outright as 20 point dogs since 1989.

Oklahoma(-10.5) vs Texas at Dallas: HIT! As close as this game was, I never really felt like Oklahoma was going to lose this. Having a decent defense is nice. It’s been a while! We didn’t hear a whole lot about Ehlinger in this one because the defense mostly kept him quiet. Don’t sell this short. This was a big win.

Michigan(-22.5) at Illinois: MISS!  Michigan very nearly blew a 28 point lead to a team that just isn’t very good. If Michigan isn’t leading Harbaugh to the guillotine by now, they’ll never get rid of him….

Memphis(-5.5) at Temple: MISS!  How on God’s green earth did this team lose to Buffalo????

Maryland(-3.5) at Purdue: MISS! Tyrrell Pigrome was pretty good. The other 21 starters and two dozen or so other players that played for Maryland were not. Jack Plummer made Purdue forget about Sindelar and Brycen Hopkins made his case to be a strong Robin to Rondale Moore‘s Batman when he returns.

Mississippi State(-6.5) at Tennessee: HIT! Maurer went out about halfway through the second quarter, and Tennessee only let Guarantano throw the ball seven times. SEVEN! It was a recipe for success. Guarantano completed six of those including a touchdown in the fourth quarter to ice it.

Rutgers at Indiana(-27.5): HIT! This was total domination. Rutgers had just 75 yards of total offense and one yard passing. ONE! On five completions!

Miami(OH) at Western Michigan(-12.5): MISS! There’s a reason I only put one point on this. The Miami offense looked better than they have, but the defense didn’t hold up their end of the bargain here.

Toledo(-26.5) at Bowling Green: MISS! Where did that come from? The Bowling Green defense looked hungry and like they had a purpose. Holding Toledo to seven points is a good enough achievement, but beating them outright by 13 and moving the I-75 trophy 30 miles down the road for the first time in ten years? That’s a huge deal!

Georgia Tech at Duke(-17.5): HIT! The first half goes my way. I hope that’s a good sign. It shouldn’t be lost that Georgia Tech scored 23 points on a decent Duke defense. The only time the Bees scored more was the 24 they put up in a loss to The Citadel. No, that’s not a typo. They lost to The Citadel.

Ball State at Eastern Michigan(-1.5): MISS! Yep. The Eagles couldn’t run the ball. Ball State did. Caleb Huntley ran for 152.

Old Dominion at Marshall(-15.5): MISS! This was the best the Marshall offense has looked all season, and they still didn’t cover.

New Mexico State at Central Michigan(-10.5): HIT! This was closer than I thought it would be. Giving up 28 points to New Mexico State at home is not a good look regardless of whether you covered or not.
