DraftKings college football quarterback picks October 18

Top Tier:

If this were a full slate, I would consider fading Justin Fields against Northwestern. However, DraftKings lowered his price to just $8,300. That seems like enough of an adjustment to me to use him. After all, the spread on this game is still -28.5. Someone thinks a lot of scoring will be going on. If that’s the case, Fields will be front and center.

Chris Robison had his worst game of the season last week after the bye, but the Owls still beat MTSU. The thing to take away from this for fantasy purposes is that the Owls can win with or without a big game from Robison. That makes him a fairly dangerous play. The Herd are decent across the board on defense, so with four games on the slate, I’m not sure we need this kind of risk. That said, Robison has topped 300 passing yards three times this year. The other three games? Below 200.

.Middle Tier:

If you want to attack UNLV, do it on the ground. They are allowing almost as many rushing yards as passing per game this year. A game manager such as Jorge Reyna may seem low risk, and he is, but there is very little upside.

The Syracuse secondary is the worst part on the team. They allow 276.8 yards per game through the air. I’m not sold on Kenny Pickett, but this is a place to use him. Pitt’s receivers are very good and Pickett can’t help but find some of them once in a while. I’m more wild about the receivers than the quarterback, but I’d play Pickett for the price since incompletions don’t dock the score.

Bargain Shoppers:

FAU’s pass defense leaves a lot to be desired, but so does the arm of Isaiah Green. He’s more runner than passer. You’re better off with Kenyon Oblad if UNLV hands him the starting job like they should do.
